Buyers set to build Elliott Springs dream
THE first parcels of land at the $ 1.4 billion masterplanned residential development Elliott Springs have been snapped up.
Construction has started on the project, with land already being cleared.
First- home buyers Alexandra Hodgson and Jared Williamson were the first Townsville residents to buy a block of land at Elliot Springs after being impressed by the prices offered and natural beauty of the area.
At 480sq m they have secured one of the smaller blocks at the rear of the estate and they plan to build a three- bedroom, two- bathroom home with a media room.
Ms Hodgson, 20, said they had struggled to find land that fitted in with their budget and were keen to buy in time to secure the $ 20,000 first home buyers grant.
“I just loved all the greenery and I couldn’t believe the price,” she said.
“We’ll be building because we’re both super picky and we had looked at lots of properties but we never walked into a house and thought there was nothing to change.
“This way we can build what we want and have it look exactly like we want it to look.”
Elliott Springs is 15km south of Townsville and will include 10,600 homes over 1609ha of land when complete.
The satellite community is a 40- year development project expected to be completed by 2056 and 30 per cent of the land area will be dedicated to open spaces such as parks and a conservation area.
Lendlease’s Elliot Springs regional development manager Simon Walker said the masterplanned community would also include shopping centres, schools, parks, hiking and bike trails.
“Buyers have shared their excitement about the vision for Elliot Springs as it promises to be much more than a place to live,” he said.
“The open space, proximity to major employment, larger lot sizes and amenity combined with the natural beauty of the surrounding ranges makes it an ideal place to start a new and exciting life.”
