A RECRUITMENT service is expanding in Townsville with hopes upcoming projects in the region will provide job opportunities and help reduce the unemployment rate.

On- hire recruitment service Extrastaff is based in Flinders St and specialises in blue- collar labour.

They have recently acquired more than 900 new candidates from North Queensland and Townsville Extrastaff branch manager Kim Martin said with several upcoming projects including the North Queensland stadium and Adani Carmichael coal mine, Extrastaff was sitting in a prime position to provide a wide range of jobs to Townsville residents.

“We are not only dedicated to getting people in the job – we are dedicated to training and upskilling each person we contract,” she said.

“We want to ensure our workforce, clients and our community is sustainable and competitive.

“Growing Extrastaff means more people are employed within our office.

“If we grow, it means more opportunities for people who are interested in recruitment and consulting.

“We have been growing our in- office staff members and it’s great to have new people on the team.”

Extrastaff has vacancies for boilermakers, fitters and trade assistants.

As well as manual trades and labour, Extrastaff also provide recruitment for aged care support transport and logistics, manufacturing, mining and resources and construction.
