Eels will stick with list despite injuries

- CHRISTIAN NICOLUSSI

PARRAMATTA have no plans to rush out to the open market before the June 30 deadline to boost their playing stocks after losing a second player in two days to a season- ending injury.

Beau Scott will miss the rest of the year after scans confirmed he had a ruptured bicep and would need surgery.

A day earlier the Eels revealed hooker Kaysa Pritchard would also go under the knife after he tore the lateral collateral ligament and posterior cruciate ligament in his knee.

Eels boss Bernie Gurr said while the club had another 10 days to splash some cash on replacements, they were more than happy to rely on their current roster.

“We have a little bit of money there, but it’s more the point of getting someone you think will do better than the replacements you’ve got, and at this stage we think we can cover it internally,’’ Gurr said.

“We’re not anticipating looking outside the club for additional players as cover for Beau and Kaysa.’’

The loss of Scott will hurt Parramatta, with Tim Mannah the only forward with more than 100 NRL games experience.

Frank Pritchard has played more than 250 games, but not been sighted since Round 6 because of a knee injury.

Meanwhile, rising young prop Alex Twal has been granted an immediate release to join the Wests Tigers and could make his NRL debut against Gold Coast on Friday night.
