Tributes for Con Sciacca

OPPOSITION Leader Bill Shorten has paid tribute to former federal minister Con Sciacca, who died yesterday.

Mr Sciacca held the seat of Bowman, in southern Queensland, for 15 years and was remembered yesterday by Mr Shorten as “a mentor, a friend, a constant source of wise counsel” and “a muchloved member of our Labor family,” in a statement released yesterday afternoon.

He served as Paul Keating’s Minister for Veterans Affairs and was regarded as one of the best to have held the portfolio, Mr Shorten said.
