Reform urged on robo- debt

CENTRELINK has been urged to halt its widely criticised automated debt recovery program until apparent flaws in the system are fixed.

A Senate inquiry into the socalled robo- debt saga handed down its final report last night, after conducting hearings across the country over several months.

The committee urged the Government to put the program on hold until “procedural fairness flaws” were addressed.

Coalition senators handed down a dissenting report, but also acknowledged there were elements of the robo- debt system which could be improved.
