KILLERS TO ‘ ASSAULT’ OZ

-

happy day!’ I cried when The Killers dropped their new track The Man.

It’s been far too long between drinks for the Las Vegas outfit and I’m loving the result.

Frontman Brandon Flowers described it best saying it “kinda sounds like David Bowie walking down the strip”. Rad.

The Killers have been a primary band for many of us – and this latest drop got me thinking – why haven’t I listened to these boys in a while? Their 2004 album, Hot Fuss, was one of those albums that had an impact on my life. I put it on this weekend for a bit of nostalgia and got the rush of those “wow, I remember how my life used to feel back then” feelings. It’s amazing how we attach music to ourselves without knowing it.

I feel a little sad. Like I’ve let Brandon and the boys down in some way. How dare I go this long without a spin of Hot Fuss?

I’m really looking forward to this brand spanking new stuff. Hopefully this album Wonderful Wonderful will prove what a decent musical break can do.

When they hit Australian soil later this year for the AFL grand final and a “full assault on Australia” as drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr said, there’s not one person who won’t be singing Mr Brightside at the top of their lungs.

As long as it’s not Meatloaf at the grand final singing it …. nah that’d never happen.
