A Big Mac with a tiara on the side

NEW Miss Universe Australia Olivia Rogers celebrated her beauty pageant triumph with a glass of champagne and a McDonald’s Big Mac.

Her boyfriend of almost two years, Andrew Pretto, said after several photo shoots and interviews following the crowning, Ms Rogers joined the 31 other Miss Universe finalists for the late- night fast food excursion in the early hours of yesterday morning.

“The girls actually have a tradition that they go to McDonald’s after the competition every year, so after a few champagnes we found ourselves walking to Swanston St McDonald’s for a celebratory Big Mac at about 2am, which was good,” he said.

Mr Pretto said he was incredibly proud of his speech pathologist girlfriend, who was “very nervous” before the competition at Melbourne’s Sofitel Hotel.

“It was such a whirlwind, just a really exciting night.

“She was pretty nervous, which was understandable, but I was always confident she’d do well,” he said.

“She made me so proud last night, not just me but her family and her state and the country as well.”
