Premise for growth

TOWNSVILLE- BASED engineering firm UDP Group is undergoing a rebranding following a merger with engineers the O2 Group.

The two firms announced the merger in July last year and became O2UDP but will now be known as Premise.

The firm’s Townsville office on the corner of Sturt and Denham streets has been given a makeover and new signage will be installed soon.

Premise chairman Pat Brady, who is a well- known business identity in Townsville and former Townsville Port Authority chairman, said the merger had resulted in the company growing while other business in regional Queensland were downsizing.

“The capabilities we have acquired has taken our firm to the next level and we thought it was time to choose a brand fitting of these capabilities,” he said. “Premise is a strong brand and highlights that good development is the reason for being.

“It is also a reflection of the fact that it was property where our brand started and while we now offer many services across many sectors we will never forget those humble beginnings.”

The firm has 125 staff over eight offices, including in three different countries.

Premise CEO David Pollock said the merger would lead to more job opportunities in Northern Australia.

“One of the services the group has in its arsenal is an agricultural capability centred around feedlot services,” he said. “If Northern Australia is to reach its full potential, it will be on the back of agriculture.

“Whether that be the planning for water security and infrastructure for government or housing expansion and feedlots for the private sector, the potential for Northern Australia is tremendous.

“We can think of no greater city than Townsville to expand our push into Northern Australia.”
