TEARFUL MUM BEGS ACTOR TO SEEK HELP

- DANIELLE GUSMAROLI

THE elderly mother of disgraced Underbelly star Vince Colosimo broke down in tears as she pleaded with him to seek help after he was arrested twice in less than 12 months on ice- related drug charges.

Calabrian- born Lina Colosimo, aged in her late 70s, said between sobs: “We spoke to him in January when we heard he was caught with drugs and he said we have to trust him, he promised no more.

“We find out his life in the news, not from our own son who comes to see us every week … he’s always been a good boy to us. I can’t take any more, his father is sick, he worries his son is in a bad place.

“We don’t know what to do any more. I can’t sleep, I worry all the time, I can’t talk about it any more, it’s too painful what’s happening ( to Vince). No more, he needs help.”

The troubled 50- yearold actor faces a possible stint in jail after he was charged on Sunday with driving under the influence of drugs while his licence was suspended. He was on a 12month good behaviour bond after he was sentenced earlier this year for possessing methamphetamine last September.

The star had admitted to possessing the drug, declaring it was ice and he was a user.

Melbourne- based Colosimo ( pictured) had previously said his arrest last September was “a wake- up call” and that he had learned his lesson.

“I have two beautiful children, whom I love more than anything in the world, and I want to be a good role model to them,” he said at the time.

“They, and acting, are my two biggest loves.

“It’s onwards and upwards. I want to focus on my family and work. I’ve been away on holiday and am in a good place.”

It is not the first time the beleaguered actor has been charged with driving while suspended. Three years ago he was fined $ 1000, without conviction, and banned from driving for 14 days.

He is due to attend Melbourne Magistrates Court in August over the latest matter.
