Le Brocq sets cracking pace with Nissan

- TRENT SLATTER

NISSAN young gun Jack Le Brocq is on track for another stunning weekend at Reid Park after setting the pace in practice for the Dunlop Super2 Series yesterday.

Le Brocq was near flawless in every trip around Reid Park last year as he won the round and he’s made another blistering start this weekend, setting the quickest time of the day.

Garry Jacobson had the better of the first session ahead of series leader Paul Dumbrell, but Le Brocq unleashed in the second practice to finish on top with a time of 1: 14.7366.

Meanwhile, Gold Coast’s Ryal Harris wasn’t giving an inch in the V8 Ute Racing Series as he topped both practice sessions.

The three- time series champion was the only driver to crack the 1: 27 barrier, with Craig Dontas also driving well to be second and third across the two sessions.

In the other support categories, the first Toyota 86 Racing Series round in Townsville looks to be a battle between three drivers.

Cameron Hill was the fastest across both practice sessions with a best time of 1: 30.4388, but Jimmy Vernon and Aaron Seton were not far behind.

Australian GT practice went to the team of Kelvin van der Linde and Geoff Emery with a time of 1: 13.1550 in their only on- track session.
