LADIES DAY PROVES A BIG WINNER
IT was high fashion and great racing for the thousands of people who flocked to Ladies Day at Cluden Park.
More than 2000 people made their way to the races on Saturday, with event organisers happy with the turnout.
Townsville Turf Club CEO Cassandra Cazzulino said it was a great day and hoped this weekend’s Townsville Cup would be even bigger.
“We are really happy with the end result, it was a really great turnout. I think we had about 2300 people trackside and everyone looked amazing,” Ms Cazzulino said.
“We have put a lot of effort into the general admission area, whether you’re in a marquee or not we are still ensuring everyone is comfortable and having a great day.
“There’s going to be plenty on ( at the Townsville Cup), it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Three Feathers Couture owner Jayde Scholes won the Fashions on the Field.
“I’m a milliner so I make headpieces and I do make some outfits as well," she said.
“I had made my own headpiece and top as well. I bought the skirt but I did modify it a bit … it’s always good to go to the races in something that is one of a kind, knowing you’re not going to run into someone else wearing the same thing.
“There was a lot of really nice outfits, so I’m pretty chuffed with the win.”
