Court mention for O’Keefe’s alleged drug- fuelled rampage

- CHRIS McMAHON

THE case against Anthony O’Keefe, 33, will be mentioned in court this week a year on from his alleged stabbing frenzy in Wulguru.

O’Keefe was arrested on Wright St in July last year, allegedly naked and covered in blood following a drug- fuelled rampage.

It will be alleged O’Keefe went to the Kepler St home of Brittny Speechly about 10pm on July 26, stabbing the 26- year- old woman in the chest, stomach and face.

An allegedly naked and bloody O’Keefe then crossed the road, where he is accused of breaking into the home of 81- year- old Elizabeth “Beth” Kippin and stabbing her in the chest before trying to kick in her neighbour’s door.

Police will allege he then jumped a fence and stabbed a father of two in the face while he attempted to take his children inside his home.

It will be further alleged that O’Keefe continued his rampage, punching and headbutting cars, pulling down fence palings and trying to stab a dog before he was arrested.

Mrs Kippin’s body would lie in her home for hours before being discovered about 9am on July 27, found by a concerned neighbour who went to investigate after noticing she had not retrieved her newspaper. Her brutal killing shocked residents, with many describing Mrs Kippin as the “grandmother” of Wright St.

O’Keefe has been charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, one count of enter dwelling with intent, one count of attempted enter dwelling and commit, one count of unlawful wounding, seven counts of wilful damage, two counts of serious assault police and three counts of serious obstruct police.
