Springs into action
THE first commercial site in the satellite city of Elliot Springs is being launched to the market as developers Lendlease progress the $ 4.7 billion project on the city’s southern rim.
Lendlease is set to call expressions of interest on the 10,000sq m site fronting the Bruce Highway.
Lendlease regional development manager for Elliot Springs Simon Walker said the site would be strategic for access to the high volume of traffic from the Bruce Highway and the future residents of Elliot Springs.
Code assessable land uses included service station, convenience retail and fast food, while the landholding offered an opportunity to acquire a highway site with good access and broad development potential.
Mr Walker said the introduction of commercial land would see the first of many opportunities within the community for business and employment.
“Creating a community is more than just providing opportunities for residential.
“We know that our future residents will want the basic every day conveniences at their fingertips and that is what we are planning for,” Mr Walker said.
Elliot Springs is a long- term project to house more than 26,000 peo- ple over a 1600ha site 15km south of Townsville’s CBD.
Lendlease launched first 82 lots in May.
Civil works and infrastructure development are well advanced with lots expected to be completed early next year.
Mr Walker said construction was progressing well and they were encouraged by the response to off the plan sales.
Opteon Townsville valuer and senior project manager Jennifer- Lee Sinclair said that the project would help rebalance development in Townsville.
“In my opinion sales on the it’s great to have some new residential land options to the south of Townsville to provide an alternative to the Northern Beaches,” Ms Sinclair said.
“I think a lot of people still don’t realise how close Elliot Springs is to Townsville’s CBD.”
She said she recently inspected a portion of the masterplanned development and was impressed with the site.
The commercial property is on the Bruce Highway on the corner of Whites Creek Rd and is close to a planned neighbourhood centre which will include a shopping centre, private primary school, community facilities and district park.
