Driver mows down troops

-

SIX soldiers on a counterterrorism patrol have been run down by a man driving a BMW in what appears to have been a targeted hit in the French capital of Paris. The attack happened about 8am Paris time ( 4pm AEST) yesterday as the soldiers headed out on patrol in the wealthy Parisian suburb of Levallois- Perret, north of the city centre. Two soldiers were badly injured and taken to hospital. The other four escaped serious injuries. A manhunt is under way for the driver, who had apparently been waiting for the soldiers to emerge from their barracks before striking them and speeding off. There was no immediate word last night whether it was a terror attack.

“It’s without doubt a deliberate act,’’ Patrick Balkany, the mayor of Levallois- Perrethe said.

There are not thought to be any civilian injuries.
