Aussies happy as underdogs

-

WALLAROOS coach Paul Verrell says all the pressure is on Ireland, as Australia aims to maintain their unbeaten Women’s’ Rugby World Cup record against the hosts in this morning’s opening match of the tournament.

Ireland are ranked fifth in the world, one place above Australia, who have embraced the underdog tag. Australia have won the only two previous World Cup clashes between the nations.

“I think all the pressure is on them, they are the home nation hosting the World Cup,” Verrell said. “( If) we’re in front heading into that last 10, 15 minutes I think all the pressure is on them and that’s what we’re aiming to do.”
