‘ Voodoo economics’ claim comes back to bite MP

-

I REFER to TB 10/ 08/ 17 Cox slams “two faced” LNP stance, Domanii Cameron. The Member for Burdekin and Shadow Agriculture Minister stated “If the budget would have been blocked then all projects would have ceased from today.”

The member also stated “Mr Cox’s comments highlight the “fundamental poor understanding” of the budget process.

What I said was that the Member for Burdekin could not have it both ways. “He either supports money for a $ 5 billion tunnel in Brisbane and he supports Labor’s 50 per cent Renewable Energy Target or he supports water security and a coal- fired power station in North Queensland.”

After nearly three years he is the one that does not know how the government works and to make matters worse his leader Tim Nicholls who was once the State’s Treasurer agrees.

Comments by the sitting Member for Burdekin and wannabe Premier Tim Nicholls that One Nation only knows “voodoo economics” and presents “thought bubbles” have come back to bite them it seems.

Here is the truth of what would have happened if the LNP Opposition showed good leadership and had the regions in mind when they voted with Labor to support the 2017/ 18 budget.

Steve Dickson the Member for Buderim knew exactly what he was doing when he and members of the cross bench voted to block such ridiculous unwarranted spending.

Neil Lawrie the Clerk of the Parliament said it would not result in an inability to pay public servants and to maintain the function of government.

My question to the LNP sitting Member is do you or do you not support the Labor Government’s budget in whole and if not why did you vote for it? If the LNP and Member for Burdekin knew better why did he claim on social media, that “If the budget is blocked, our road projects would stop and funding would cease for domestic violence shelters and foster care immediately.”

Ignorance is one thing, lies are another but scaring the vulnerable in our community is not acceptable. I will always put people before party politics.

SAM COX, One Nation candidate Burdekin.
