Brave effort but Titans cop another loss

- TRAVIS MEYN

THE Gold Coast finally had a go but it may not have been enough to save Neil Henry’s coaching career after the injury- ravaged Titans fell 30- 8 to Parramatta last night.

It was their fifth straight loss, and possibly the last game of Henry’s tenure, but for the first time in a month the Titans showed some heart at a nearempty ANZ Stadium.

Jarryd Hayne ( ankle) missed the showdown with his former club after a week of turmoil following his very public feud with Henry.

Joining him as a late withdrawal was Origin prop Jarrod Wallace ( knee) and the Titans lost centre John Olive after just seven minutes, forcing Henry into a major reshuffle.

The Titans scrapped and toiled without much luck. Henry will learn his fate in the coming days when the club’s board members meet again.

Olive’s sickening elbow injury saw No. 6 Tyrone Roberts shift to fullback and a rampaging Tepai Moeroa strolled straight past Kane Elgey at five- eighth to open scoring.

Parramatta prop Daniel Alvaro went through the Titans’ left side again to give the Eels a 12- 0 lead at the break.

Eels sub Will Smith brushed aside four Titans defenders, including Elgey, before Semi Radradra got a slice of luck from The Bunker to make it 24- 0.

Prop Ben Nakubuwai scored on debut for the Titans and they had numerous chances without being able to penetrate Parramatta’s line.
