Labor puts green vote ahead of the rest

-

AARON Harper is out of touch.

In his letter, he claimed that power prices haven’t been going up that much. He must be living under a rock because all of the people I have been speaking to have seen their power bills skyrocket. His claims just don’t pass the smell test.

Apparently, the solution is the recent boom in renewable energy projects, the vast majority of which are backed by the Federal Government’s Clean Energy Finance Corporation. The same Federal Government that Mr Harper claims isn’t doing anything just happens to be financing most of the projects Mr Harper is trying to claim credit for.

The only policy uncertainty comes from Labor flip- flopping all over the place on coal and whether they are going to bring in some kind of new carbon tax. How can there be any investment certainty for a new power plant if there is a possibility that a new Labor Government will change the law and write off the value of the investment overnight?

The LNP is focused on ensuring that Queenslanders have reliable power at a price they can afford. The LNP is supporting a HELE coal- fired base load power station in North Queensland because it is the cheapest reliable power available. While the cost of renewable energy is coming down, and in some cases, such as remote communities, it may be the most cost effective option, the technology isn’t there yet.

As usual, when it comes to power prices, the Palaszczuk Government is putting the green ideology of inner city Brisbane voters ahead of the hip pockets of the rest of Queensland. NICK MARTINEZ, LNP Candidate for

Thuringowa.
