Cowboys match a hot ticket for VIPs

- VICTORIA NUGENT

BUSINESS leaders from across Australia and Papua New Guinea will fill corporate boxes at tomorrow night’s clash between the North Queensland Cowboys and the Brisbane Broncos, with Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk among the VIPs.

Cowboys chief executive officer Greg Tonner said the community was buzzing for what was the clash of the year.

“Our team has shown the heart of Phar Lap and is up to another epic battle – this is Queensland country versus Brisbane city,” he said.

“We’re excited to host a crowd filled with passionate Cowboys supporters. We’ll be honoured to host the Premier, and will be even more honoured if she barracks for the Cowboys.”

Mr Tonner said there were still 2000 tickets available.

“This is a must- win game and having a packed- out stadium chanting for the Cowboys is the home- ground advantage we’ve looked forward to,” he said.

Ms Palaszczuk said she was looking forward to the game.

“In recent years, CowboysBroncos games have produced some of the best contests in the NRL and I’m looking forward to another cracker,” she said.

Executives from sponsors Toyota, XXXX parent company Lion and Papua New Guinean rice company Trukai Industries will be among those ready to cheer the players on.

Cowboys commercial general manager Jeff Reibel said the 1300SMILES corporate facilities were filled for only the second time this year.

“Fifteen Trukai executives are coming down and having some meetings here and spending an extended period in Townsville,” he said.

“A lot of our close stakeholders always circle this date on their calenders and being the final game of the regular season, it gives them an extra reason to come and enjoy some sunshine.” Asiata expecting, back page
