Brett bombards Townsville Cup heats with three winners

FOUR heats of the Angliss Meats Townsville Cup over 498m and two heats of the TGBOTA NQ Sprint over 380m highlighte­d this week’s greyhound race meet at the Townsville Showground­s.

Top Brisbane trainer Tony Brett qualified with his three starters.

Race five was the first heat of the Townsville Cup with Zabdon Ferrari taking out the race by 9 ¼ in 28.55 from Gadsbys Road trained by Tom Tzoulevis.

In the second Cup heat, Kulu Jasper trained by Kim Gooding won by a length in 28.76 from Bruton Miss, trained by local Robert Lound.

Race seven was the third Cup heat, won by the Tony Brett- trained Split Image by 5 ¾ lengths in 28.41, ahead of Swap Ya trained by Heath Ardle of Ayr.

The fourth heat was won by Opal Nera, trained by Brisbane trainer Tony Brett, by five lengths in 28.71, edging Zipping Outlaw, trained by Townsville’s Rhonda Essery.

Townsville trainer John Barrow had a successful night winning both heats of the TGBOTA NQ Sprint.

Race three was the first heat of the Sprint with Gold Total scoring by a neck in 22.01 from Sky Lark ( Michael Hickmott), Go Gwan ( Rhonda Essery) in third and Tyson’s Fantasy ( Andrew Weise) in fourth.

Race four was the second Sprint heat with Maywyn Accolades scoring ahead in 22.03 from Our Cavalier ( Frank Hancock NSW), Black Mass ( Rhonda Essery) third and Face Time ( Glen Olsen) fourth.

The field for the final will be Go Gwan, Our Cavalier, Maywyn Accolades, Gold Total, Face Time, Black Mass, Sky Lark and Tyson’s Fantasy with Macadam and Kerrie’s A Minx the reserves.
