Mincy arrived in the city late on Wednesday after a lengthy delay at LAX, but she insisted she will be ready to go when the Fire hit the training court tomorrow for their first day of preseason.

The 183cm ( 6ft) guard already has some experience overseas after spending two seasons in Israel, averaging 15.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in her debut campaign with Ramat Hasharon.

Mincy took some time away from basketball this year, but the 25- year- old has kept working hard off the court and said she could not wait to get down to business with the Fire.

“We had a couple of Brothers Rebels Townsville Warriors Northern Fury Brothers Ingham Wolves hic- cups, ready said.

“I’ve had some time off. I went back home in January, but I’ve pretty much just been working out, rehabbing, and getting better each and every day so I can be prepared to play out here.

“Just coming back and getting into things with the team, I’m really excited to get things going.”

Mincy admitted she still had a lot of learn about the WNBL before the Fire’s opening round clash with the Melbourne Boomers on October 7, but she has had some help from a couple of former WNBA team mates.

Mincy spent time with the Seattle Storm in 2016, playing alongside Opals centre Abby Bishop and former Fire import Natasha Cloud, and she said both had high praise for the league.

“Any time you’re coming to a different country, you always have to be ready to play and give your best and I’m looking forward to doing that,” Mincy said.

“One of my teammates, Natasha Cloud, played here last year and she had a lot of good things to say about the club. I just thought this would be a great opportunity for me as well.

“I like to get down and get into the game and support my teammates, so you can definitely look for a lot of energy and a lot of excitement from me.

“Being a defensive stopper, and nice and long on the wing, I’ll just do whatever I can for the team.”

The Fire will host the Perth Lynx for two preseason matches in the Burdekin on September 22- 23.

Those fixtures will be the club’s final hit- outs before their WNBL campaign gets underway on October 7 when they host Liz Cambage and the Melbourne Boomers.
