Moses’s foursight a unique triumph

- CHRISTIAN NICOLUSSI

MITCHELL Moses should know a thing or four about South Sydney.

For the first time in the 110 years of Australian rugby league, Moses will become the first player to play against the same club four times in the one regular season.

The playmaker helped the Wests Tigers to victory over Souths in round one, then played them again in round 10 in his final game at the Tigers.

Two weeks later, Moses played against the Bunnies for Parramatta, which the Eels won 22- 16.

While there have been 28 occasions where players have lined up against the same opponent three times in the one season, according to league historian David Middleton, nobody has ever fronted up four times like Moses will do tonight at ANZ Stadium.

Since that round- 12 clash against Souths, Moses and Parramatta have taken their game to the next level.

Despite not pulling on the blue and gold until round 11, you could argue he has almost become a better buy of the season than Ken Thornett Medal winner Nathan Brown.

“He’s got more comfortable with the players around him, he understands what we require from him, but we also understand now what we need to do to get him at his best,’’ Eels coach Brad Arthur said.

“He’s got a little bit of that respectful arrogance about him, he likes the big games and the big moments.

“He is respectful about his confidence and arrogance, but that’s what you want from your playmakers. Him and Corey ( five- eighth Norman) want those big moments.’’
