Debate is generating fools

THE report on our local ALP stalwarts in Saturday’s Bulletin: “Plan delivers cheap power: MPs” comes as no great surprise as they do nothing but sing out of the Labor/ Green songbook on the subject.

I have noted many letters and texts that have tried to use reason and facts to highlight the shortfalls and excessive costs of unrealisti­c “renewable” energy targets.

These targets and subsidies have caused massive price increases and warnings of blackouts in Victoria and South Australia from the Australian Energy Market Operator ( AEMO).

Alas, reason has failed, so I will try a different tack.

Aaron Harper, by his website, is a qualified paramedic; Coralee Scott and Scott Stewart are both teachers by way of background.

I am sure they were good at their jobs, but unless they got further qualificat­ions between leaving employment and becoming MPs, I don’t think they are technicall­y or economical­ly qualified to understand the electricit­y generation and distributi­on complexiti­es.

In fact I would offer they are very unqualifie­d.

To take it a step further, if you look at the qualificat­ions of the Labor Cabinet, there is a distinct lack of diversity, technical or economic management being full of groupthink people with Bachelor of Arts and union background­s.

AEMO has overnight branded Bill Shorten as reckless with his focus on renewable energy targets and the looming shortage of baseload power and thus blackouts. The Queensland Government has announced and is proceeding with a 50 per cent RET target for more taxpayer subsidies to be paid to overseas companies – the same dumb ideals as Shorten, Jay Wetherill and Daniel Andrews.
