Intruder ‘ made sexual advances’ toward girl, 9

- CHRIS McMAHON

A NINE- YEAR- OLD girl was allegedly woken by a young criminal in her bedroom who made a sexual advance towards her.

It’s understood two teens had stolen two utes from Ingham and drove both to Townsville before they allegedly attempted to break into the IGA at Mount Louisa.

Failing to smash their way into the shop, the pair, aged 15 and 17, al- legedly fled in the separate cars, before breaking into another home in Mount Louisa.

It will be alleged the 15- year- old broke into a home on Barra Court where he entered the girl’s room, made sexual advances towards her and took her piggy bank.

The pair allegedly drove from the scene before the 15- year- old rolled a Toyota Hilux that caught fire.

Officer in charge Townsville Property Crime Unit Detective Sen- ior Sergeant Guy Harvey said the 15year- old was arrested nearby after the dog squad picked up his scent, while the older boy was arrested in Ingham.

“The Townsville Property Crime Unit were investigating a located stolen vehicle, which had caught on fire. As a result our inquiries led us to ascertain there were two burglaries overnight in Ingham, two residences were broken into and a Toyota Hilux and a Ford ute were stolen,” Sen- Sgt Harvey said. “We will be alleging the same offenders have attended a residence at Barra Court in Mount Louisa, where they did gain entry and some property was stolen, but they were disturbed by the occupants.”

He said the offenders took off in their stolen cars from Barra Court, before one of the cars was crashed.

The teens have been charged with an array of property crime offences and will front court in the coming weeks.
