Flight entices keen fans

THE Cowboys are calling on their diehard supporters to make the trip to Sydney to help their team over the line on Saturday.

Club legend Brent Tate is urging fans to “get down there and support the boys” in the preliminary final against the Roosters.

“Any support helps and it will be a huge boost for them emotionally,” he said. “I think it just adds to the responsibility, knowing that people made the effort to support them.

“I think we’ve got the greatest and most loyal fans. They travel, they work hard, they’re good people,” he said.

Former Cowboy Dallas Johnson said support from home could make all the difference against the Roosters.

“Sydney is pretty hostile territory and it makes a mass- ive difference on the field knowing you have a home crowd behind you to cheer you on,” he said.

The Cowboys have chartered a 100- seat plane for the clash and a group of passionate North Queensland fans is now needed for the flight to take off.

A charter flight was cancelled in the first week of finals due to a lack of numbers required to make the flight economically viable.

Team sponsor Sean Fairburn said it was critical fans jumped on board to support the team.

“A lot of people held their money and held off getting the previous charter because they were waiting to see if the boys make the grand final,” Mr Fairburn said.

“We have to get them to the grand final first.

“We have got to do everything we can to get them there.

“They have done everything for us now we have to do everything for them.”

Cowboys corporate partnerships manager Dean Payne hoped supporters jumped at the opportunity to see the game.

“There is certainly a bit more interest for this charter flight already,” he said.

The $ 870 experience will include direct return flights departing Saturday and returning Sunday with catering provided, coach transfers to and from the airport to a central location in the city on both days and a Category 1 ticket to the game.

“It’s critical in getting the job home, the boys are running on empty,” Mr Payne said.

“We need as many Cowboys supporters as possible to help them get the job done.”

Tickets for the flight can be purchased through the Cowboys website.
