Innocent Man in with a real chance

- LEE PEARCE

GREYHOUND racing returns to the Townsville showgrounds tonight with a 10- race program.

Race 4 is the MCP Racing 4/ 5th Grade over 498m. The favourite should be Innocent Man ( 3) for Glen Olsen.

He has drawn better here and will be a big show after winning the Derby Final here last week. He has good box speed and will be one of the early leaders.

In- form greyhound Lots Of Time ( 1) for Robert Lound ran a good second behind Natty’s On Fire last week in the Futurity Final over 498m at her first look.

She is well drawn to give the favourite a run for his money. She has good box speed and will run a bold race if she can begin well.

Riff ( 2) for Harold Hovi ran a good second last week chasing home Innocent Man in the Derby Final. He can begin on his night and should be up with the favourite at the jump.

Race 7 is the DCB Mechanical 3/ 4th Grade over 380m.

Punters will see a good race as there are some good beginners with the likes of Huckabee ( 3) for Rhonda Essery, From The Tap ( 4) for Robert Lound and Madagaster ( 6) for Clarence Wilcox. At the jump, there will be a good battle to the first bend among the front runners, leaving Swap Ya ( 2) for Heath Ardle to weave his way through the field with a clear run for another win.

The main danger will come from Cabaret Tonight ( 8) for Rhonda Essery. She won from the four box after beginning well and has eachway claims.

Race 8 is the A & A Industrial Best 8 over 380m.

Favourite Maywyn Accolades ( 2) for John Barrow won again in fine style last week and she’s showing no ill- effects from the fall she had in the Sprint Final.

She will appreciate the inside draw and will be hard to beat.

Bruton Miss ( 8) for Robert Lound flew the lids last week from box 6 to lead the field before being gathered up by Maywyn Accolades.

She fought on well for second after finishing on strong and has each way claims.

Face Time ( 1) for Glen Olsen is ideally suited from here.

He has good box manners on his night and could be a big danger to the favourite.

Black Mass ( 7) for Rhonda Essery ran third last week from box 8 behind Maywyn Accolades and looks a place chance.
