Townsville Bulletin

Wickedly good whichever way you look at it

-

NOW the dust has cleared, the sets packed up and the costumes cleaned it is time for the Townsville Choral Society to say a big thank you to theatregoers for their support for what has been one of the best musicals we have produced in our long history.

Wicked was our 99th production and what a production it was. From the directors, choreographers, production team, actors and musicians it was a delight for us to be able to bring this family musical to the people of Townsville.

We do this because we love doing it. Townsville is a nursery of amazing talent and it is one of our greatest joys to nurture and encourage that.

Apart from a few seats that were unfilled on opening night, the production was a sellout. Even though an additional performance was scheduled for the last Sunday night, there were some who were unable to buy tickets, and we apologise.

Our next production will be We Will Rock You, featuring the music of Queen.

It will be staged at the Townsville Entertainment Centre next February.

This will be the first time the Choral Society has used this venue and the good news is there will be more tickets available.

We also need to pass on an additional thank you to our audiences.

It has been our custom over the last few musicals to undertake a charitable collection at the theatre. After Wicked we were able to deliver $ 10,000 to Headspace due to the generosity of our audiences. JOHN GRANTHAM,

Vice President, Townsville Choral Society.
