Constructi­on contracts expand jobs on Isa pipeline

WEST Australian- based Civmec Ltd has been awarded contracts by Jemena Northern Gas Pipeline Pty Ltd for work on the $ 800 million Tennant Creek to Mount Isa gas pipeline.

The contacts include camp set- up, site civil, structural steel fabricatio­n and the structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrument­ation installati­on works at the Phillip Creek compressor station near Tennant Creek.

The work includes the establishm­ent of a 200- man camp, site civil works involving undergroun­d services, earthworks, concrete works and fencing, while the installati­on works involves fitting of the gas treatment equipment, residue gas compressor packages, export gas compressor packages, control room and switch room.

With site civil works under way and the installati­on work scheduled now starting, the project will require more than 160 people to be employed at its peak with completion scheduled for August 2018.

Civmec CEO Patrick Tallon said: “This is a significan­t and strategic award for us, and combined with the scope growth at the Inpex project in Darwin, it will see an enlargemen­t of our on- site capabiliti­es within our oil and gas division and an expansion of our brand in the Northern Territory.”

The 622km pipeline will connect gas fields in the NT with customers in the eastern gas market including Incitec Pivot’s fertiliser manufactur­ing plant at Phosphate Hill south of Mount Isa.
