MEXICAN food franchise Zambrero have announced plans to open mid- November in the newly redeveloped City Point building in the heart of Townsville’s CDB.

The quick- service restaurant, which prides itself on fresh, healthy and flavoursome food, will be joined by Coco Mexico, which specialises in coffee, chocolate and jaffles, and The Commonwealth Bank. Coco Mexico will be located inside the Zambrero restaurant.

While an exact date is yet to be announced for the opening, the Mexican restaurant promised customers will able to buy $ 5 burritos on first day of trade.

The new Zambrero store will offer a delivery service for the first time in Townsville, servicing homes and businesses in the CBD as well as North Ward, Castle Hill, Belgian Gardens, South Townsville and Railway Estate.

Zambrero development agent Shaun McCarthy said the new restaurant would be a larger space than the previous Townsville City store on Flinders St and had a great fitout with plenty of seating for hungry diners. has be its

“We’re excited to be opening our doors in City Point,” he said. “This was a relocation of our first Zambrero in the area, previously on Flinders St.

“We have eight restaurants now in Townsville and are thrilled to be answering a demand for healthy Mexican food while also gaining support form the local area in our mission to fight world hunger.”

Zambrero has become known for their Plate 4 Plate initiative, where for every burrito or bowl bought, a meal is donated to someone in need in the developing world.

Zambrero’s menu features traditional burritos, tacos and nachos, while they also have a Powerbowl and IQ range to cater to health- conscious customers.

Their meats are slowcooked for 18 hours and their guacamole and salsas are made in store.

The $ 10 million redevelopment of the City Point shopping centre will feature largeformat tenancies in a new twolevel building on the corner of Sturt and Stokes streets.

There will be about 1200sq m of extra office and retail space creating a mixed- use centre that will include retail, hospitality, office and retail showrooms.
