DOBLE HOMES is increasing its presence in Townsville’s construction market and opening a new showroom in the heart of Townsville’s industrial district.

Managing director Greg Doble has signed a three- year lease for a showroom in Duckworth St, Garbutt.

Previously, the company was operating out of its two display homes at Greater Ascot and North Shore but now it has a base near the city.

Mr Doble said the new showroom was convenient for clients who didn’t want to travel out to a display village and would enable them to offer a variety of options to people looking to build a home.

“With the urban sprawl of Townsville, display villages are getting further and further out,” he said.

“We want to be predominantly home sales and land sales as well so we want to try and sell developers’ land from here. We’re trying to start something that’s totally new and we’re wanting to raise our profile in the community.

“We’ve already had great feedback from people who have seen us while driving past.”

Mr Doble chose the location because of it’s exposure and high amount of drive- by traffic.

The outside has been painted the building company’s signature green and there are plans to hang a large screen out the front displaying land and home sales specials.

Mr Doble said Townsville’s affordable property market had allowed him to try having a base close to the city.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to test if this actually works,” he said.

“That opportunity wouldn’t be there Townsville was going gang busters because would be out of our price range.”

Leasing agent Todd Walsh from Colliers International said properties that offered high exposure were proving popular.

“We’re seeing tenants wanting to take up spaces that are on the main road versus properties that are more tucked away,” he said.

“This particular space that Doble Homes has leased is highly exposed.” if it
