GENERATIONAL CHANGE

-

a, what’s a doodle do? When’s a doodle, how’s a doodle, what’s a doodle do?”

No, I haven’t gone mad. Well, no more than the usual amounts.

I’m just happy at the news that one of the all time great game shows of the noughties is on her way back. And any true fan of the Shaun Micallef- hosted Talkin’ Bout Your Generation wouldn’t have spoken the above line about doodles ( and we are talking about drawings here), no they would have sung it in Shaun’s not- so- dulcet tones. Yep, it’s seems that everything old really is new again after Nine announced last week it was bringing Talkin’ out of hibernation.

The reboot will again see three generations of stars go head to head. Shaun Micallef will also return as ringleader of the show.

But that’s about where the nostalgia stops. Gone are original team captains Amanda Keller, Charlie Pickering and Josh Thomas. In fact gone are Amanda’s Baby Boomers completely, instead replaced by Gen X ( now the oldest team), Gen Y and the super young Gen Z. The new team captains are pretty exciting though. Replacing the original trio will be Robyn Butler, Hit 103.1’ s very own Andy Lee ( of Hamish & Andy fame) and Laurence Boxhall, representing Gen X, Y and Z respectively.

The original was a scream and everything light entertainment should be: relaxed, clever and often roll around on the floor hilarious. Plus if there’s one thing the world needs it’s more Shaun Micallef on the telly. Five stars from this couch potato. Keep an eye out for TBYG on Nine from earlyish 2018.
