RACING Arts draws box to win

- LEE PEARCE

GREYHOUND racing returns to the Townsville Showgrounds tonight with a 10- race program, including the RQ Young Gun Heats over 380m.

Race 6 is the RQ Young Guns Heat 1 over 380m.

There are several chances in this heat, led by Arts ( 5) for Harold Hovi, who is a slow beginner, but can muster strong speed. Smokey Wishes ( 1) for Rhonda Essery has drawn well again this week.

He won from box 2 last week and he can begin on his night and has a strong finish.

Willy Rocket ( 6) for Clarence Wilcox ran a good second from box 7 last week behind Smokey Wishes. He is a fair beginner, but should be up there with each- way claims.

Destini Torpedo ( 7) for Joan Newnham has been racing in Victoria. He prefers the rails and is having his first start and look at the track for his new trainer so watch the market.

Slater’s Pick ( 3) for Robert Lound won her maiden last week from box 4.

She raced in Cairns on Friday night for a win and will be freshened up for this.

Race 7 is the RQ Young Guns Heat 2 over 380m.

This heat also has several chances with Bowenvale ( 6) for Harold Hovi in his first start back for almost three weeks so he will be fresh.

Rueben Lucka ( 5) for Robert Lound has strung together two wins in Cairns over the 410m and a third on Friday night in Cairns. He can begin on his night and has each- way claims. Favourite for this heat should be Toes ( 8) for Glen Olsen, who is a very consistent youngster and has been racing in open company with good success.

Illy Bale ( 3) for Rhonda Essery been racing in Victoria and ran third last start in a maiden at Geelong over 400m.

Road Monster ( 7) for Clarence Wilcox began brilliantly last week from the three box and led until drifting wide on the bend into the home straight. He’s better suited out wide.
