Four meat pies and Munster’s hungry for more

- MICHAEL CARAYANNIS

CAMERON Munster is in the midst of a try- scoring spree and the Kangaroos utility hopes he is not done with yet.

After two strong showings, Munster has emerged as a potential bench player for the Kangaroos, challenging Wade Graham for the role.

While Australian coach Mal Meninga has vowed to pick his strongest Test side for the quarter- final showdown against Samoa, he may still tinker because of the heat.

With predictions of 30Cplus temperatures, Meninga is contemplating picking a more versatile squad that could see Graham and Munster included, despite Graham having the inside run to keep his bench role.

Munster hopes his World Cup campaign is not finished.

“To play two games and score four tries I’m pretty happy with,” Munster said. “Hopefully Mal decides to pick me and I can score two more.

“I was lucky to be in the 24man squad. When I got told I was picked in the squad I was very excited. Then to get picked for Australia, it was a dream come true.”

One of Munster’s fourpointers was an impressive solo effort against Lebanon last Saturday. He sliced through the middle of the Cedars forwards following a tap restart before side- stepping the fullback.

“I don’t think I scored a try like that since the Queensland Cup,” Munster said.

Munster has shown his versatility, starting in the halves and then at centre for the Kangaroos.

“I haven’t played in the centres since Queensland Cup three years ago,” Munster said.

“I enjoyed it.”
