Cigs robbers remain on run
TWO men who robbed a tobacconist at Cranbrook yesterday morning remain on the run.
The Free Choice tobacco store on Ross River Rd was broken into at 12.45am with a large quantity of cigarettes stolen.
CCTV footage shows one man, with his face covered, entering through a hole that was made in a wall.
Townsville Crime Investigation Branch Detective Senior Constable David Stanborough said the offenders kicked a hole in the wall and then likely used tools to create their entrance path.
“It does appear like they’ve had a few attempts to get into the area they wanted to get in and were hindered by a cupboard in the first instance,” he said. “It was a locked and secured storeroom with CCTV and a motion sensor, which went off. It would be presumed they would be onselling ( the cigarettes) to someone else.”
