Ex- Olympian granted bail

OLYMPIC swim­mer Neil Brooks and his wife Linda will re­turn to their homes over­seas de­spite hav­ing to face court in Aus­tralia over an al­leged $ 1.9 mil­lion fraud.

Linda Brooks reap­peared in Bris­bane Mag­is­trates Court yes­ter­day in her se­cond bid for in­ter­na­tional free­dom.

Mag­is­trate Suzette Coates let Ms Brooks keep her pass­port af­ter get­ting as­sur­ances from the pros­e­cu­tion. Mr Brooks was also granted bail.

The Brooks are ac­cused of dis­hon­estly in­duc­ing Glenn Melcheck to de­liver $ 1.95 mil­lion to Al­fords Op­er­a­tions Pty Ltd, of which they were di­rec­tors, in 2008.
