KAP all talk, no action

-

INTERESTED to read Robbie Katter’s letter ( TB, 15/ 11) where he lambasts the major parties over inaction on the Mount Isa to Townsville rail line.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t Robbie Katter back Annastacia Palaszczuk to form a minority government over the LNP? Didn’t that mean that he and Shane Knuth effectively held the balance of power over what went on in Queensland since January 2015?

If that is so, why hasn’t Mr Katter used that balance of power to deliver for his longsuffering constituents?

Couldn’t KAP have used their balance of power to speed up the business case for the Townsville Eastern Access Rail Corridor ( TEARC) into the Townsville Port? It is pointless having trains travelling at great speed from Mount Isa to Townsville if they cannot get into or through the port.

Still, while Mr Katter saw Jackie Trad and Labor deliver a fully costed business case for the Cross River Rail inside three days, KAP has sat back and done nothing to expedite the delivery of the TEARC business case, which has been ongoing since July 2016.

That is 16 months under KAP’s balance of power and nothing has happened for the North under this do- nothing Labor Government.

KAP has been running with the foxes and hunting with the hounds for too long. They stood up in Townsville and said they would vote against the lockout laws and rolled over in Brisbane.

They stood up in Townsville and said they would fight for our taxi owners but rolled over in Brisbane and voted for Uber.

They stand up in the North and say they support base- load power, but disappear when the vote is on in Brisbane.

The LNP will deliver the business case for the TEARC and I will fight to ensure local contractors are given the lion’s share of the work.

The Mount Isa to Townsville rail line is vital to our future, but it must start at the Townsville Port and work its way west to ensure it is delivered efficiently.

KAP is like Labor. You cannot listen to what they say because they will tell you what they think you want to hear.

You have to watch what they do. But they do bugger all for anyone. Only an LNP Government can deliver for the North.

With my engineering background, I want to be part of a Government which drives our economy through efficient infrastructure which grows regional economies.

That is why I am standing for election – to deliver for North Queensland, something that has been lacking under the KAP/ Labor minority government. NICK MARTINEZ, LNP Candidate for

Thuringowa.
