RAIN CLOUDS SWING BY
THERE is a chance of rainfall in Townsville this week but the substantial downpours are reserved for regions to the west, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
BOM meteorologist Adam Blazak said an “unstable atmosphere” should bring rain to the region with Townsville a chance of getting showers most of the week, especially on Thursday.
“Activity might be a little hit and miss,” Mr Blazak said.
“One suburb could pick up 15mm- 20mm while the neighbouring suburb might only get 5mm but if you find yourself under a shower you can expect a good amount.”
A reprieve might be on the way for areas west of the city with BOM saying areas like Charters Towers could expect storm activity from today through to Thursday.
“The further away from the coast you are at the moment the better chance of rain,” Mr Blazak said.
“It’s looking like a pretty good set- up for rainfall over most of central Queensland.”
People may have noticed the relatively mild temperatures in Townsville recently and that should stay consistent for much of the week.
A high- pressure system along the coast is causing the pleasant temperatures and they are set to continue with the thermometers predicted to waiver between 22C and 29C until Friday.
