God Bless @ ACDC QUESTLOVE Malcolm Young Of AC/ DC we salute you. THE world’s greatest rhythm guitarist and unassuming rock mastermind, AC/ DC founder Malcolm Young has died at age 64 after losing his battle with dementia. W h i l e M a l - c o l m ’ s s c h o o l uniformw e a r i n g brother and lead guitarist Angus was widely viewed as the sneering face of the legendary hard rockers, it was natural- born musician Malcolm who conjured many of the signature riffs that made AC/ DC a global rock force.

His brother Angus paid tribute to the special bond the pair shared in steering AC/ DC from their first gig in Sydney on New Year’s Eve in 1973 to the world’s biggest stadiums.

“As his brother, it is hard to express in words what he has meant to me during my life. The bond we had was unique and very special,” Angus posted online.

“He leaves behind an enormous legacy that will live on forever. “Malcolm, job well done.” His heartfelt words led a cavalcade of emotional tributes from rock royalty across the world — including Paul Stanley of Kiss, Ozzy Osbourne and Eddie Van Halen — as well as from many nonmusicians, such as best- selling author Stephen King.

Van Halen’s legendary guitarist recalled their early days touring with AC/ DC in Europe in the 1980s.

“It is a sad day in rock and roll. Malcolm Young was my friend and the heart and soul of AC/ DC. I had some of the best times of my life with him on our 1984 European tour,” Van Halen posted.

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl made an emotional tribute to Young, crediting a viewing of AC/ DC’s concert movie Let There Be Rock at age 11 for inspiring his own rock ambitions. “That film, a live AC/ DC performance from Paris 1979, is everything that live rock and roll should be. Sweaty. Loose. Loud. A relentless performance from the perfect band,” he wrote.

Author and musician King described Young as a “sweet, quiet man.”

“Made all his noise with his guitar. AC/ DC night at my house, and loud. Rock and roll ain’t noise pollution,” he posted.

Young passed peacefully surrounded by his family having battled dementia for several years after its early onset forced him to relearn his legendary riffs during the band’s Black Ice tour.

His last live performance was in 2010 in Bilbao, Spain.

Young was a renowned perfectionist and uncompromising strategist, who took the hard decisions needed to propel AC/ DC from the unforgiving Australian pub circuit to international success.
