Parties not hard enough on crims

-

AS FAR as all Queensland political parties are concerned, none of their proposals to attack the socalled juvenile crimes are tough enough.

Labor policy is far too weak and LNP policies are still not up to the mark, with none supportive of innocent society and police efforts.

I am beyond caring for these so- called troubled juveniles whose past lives problems are regarded as excuses rather than reasons for their crimes.

In my opinion, zero tolerance must be applied to this blight on our society. One chance only for minor crimes and no second chance for major crimes like car theft, violent robbery, housebreaks, assault on all innocent persons and so on.

No more allowing a weak and soft judiciary giving freedoms of bail and paroles to these youths a reward too often given to violent or recidivist dills.

Those crims must be made feel the pain of their actions on inno- cent victims. Pen them up without luxuries and apply strict discipline, even a good taste of the rattan such as applied in Singapore.

Also, more consideration must be given to victims for their traumas, loss of property, loss of dollars and inconvenience as a result of the crimes. Lastly, garnishee all crims’ future incomes, including Centrelink payments to pay back to victims. DON PORTER Cardwell
