Domino’s entrepreneur builds his business and says … Pizza’s got the lot

- TONY RAGGATT

FROM student to delivery driver to pizza- preneur, Domino’s franchisee Nathan van Jole owes his break to capital provided by the in- laws.

Now he is set to open his sixth store at Mount Louisa, with plans for more.

“We bought our first store with a bit of help from my wife’s parents,” Mr van Jole said.

“I was finishing studies at uni and progressed into management in the Brisbane market.”

Mr van Jole started as a delivery driver to help make ends meet while he studied for a degree in information technology.

While the degree and know- how come in handy, Mr van Jole said the degree had mostly gone by the wayside as he set about building a business in Domino’s in Townsville.

He moved to Townsville in 2013 and acquired the franchises to several Domino’s stores.

He said the market here had needed some TLC. They had upgraded and refurbished stores and were looking to develop another.

“We plan on building one more store early next year, maybe at Bushland Beach,” Mr van Jole said.

The Bayswater Rd store, which will open on December 4, is being equipped with the latest technology including GPS driver tracking and on- time cooking, digital menu boards, in- store Wi- Fi, and new ovens that cook pizzas in four minutes.

“It really is an exciting time to work for Domino’s with lots of amazing developments to our menu and stores,” Mr van Jole said.

He said they had hired 20 staff and were looking for another 10 e- bike riders and service staff.

Whether you’re after a part- time position while studying or looking for a career path, Mr van Jole said they had flexible positions to suit any lifestyle.

Anyone interested should look for the Mount Louisa store on the Domino’s website to register.
