Twinning is winning to this pair

- RIKKI- LEE ARNOLD

WHEN Jillaroos forwards Talesha Quinn and Kezie Apps take to the field, it is almost impossible to tell them apart.

The two back- rowers smash through their opponents in a very similar way, while wearing the same boots and with the same braided blonde hair.

When Quinn decided to return to rugby league this year, she hardly suspected she would turn one of her biggest competitors for spots into her “twinnie”. But that is exactly what happened when the 28year- old – who before this year had not played the game since 2013 because of her work with the Australian Army – met Apps in NSW camp in July.

Quinn has spoken about how watching NSW beat Queensland for the first time in 2016 triggered her comeback.

Apps was one of those players who helped inspire Quinn.

“She reminds me so much of me,” Quinn said of Apps.

“When she was having so much success last year, I watched her and thought, ‘ Hang on, I could do that too’.

“I’ve been watching Kezie and learning a lot off her. Kezie and I both play second row so we’re always competing. It’s a healthy competition but it doesn’t actually matter because she’s one of my best mates.”

They have already shared a number of memorable moments together, including NSW’s interstate challenge win, the Australian side’s trip to Papua New Guinea in September and the start of the Jillaroos’ World Cup campaign.

The duo are expected to both be selected in Brad Donald’s line- up for tomorrow’s semi- final against Canada. Southern Cross Stadium Tomorrow, 3pm
