Mystery kindness woman revealed

- ANDREW BACKHOUSE

A MYSTERY woman who has been carrying out random acts of kindness in Townsville for five years has been unmasked.

Kind- hearted woman Kim Hine said she regularly paid for strangers’ meals.

“I’ve paid for people’s meals in advance at cafes and I’ve been doing it a lot more recently at KFC and Red Rooster,” she said.

When using a fast- food drive- through she will tell the cashier she intends to pay for the next person’s meal as well.

“They usually say, ‘ Really?’ I’ve had some say, ‘ I don’t think you can do that, I have to check with the manager’.

Ms Hine said she began doing the random acts of kindness because she had been through hardships.

“In previous times I lived hand to mouth,” she said.

“I had to go without so my kids could have something to eat. And people have stepped up and given me a couple of potatoes just so I can have mashed potatoes.”

Now she wants to help strangers and does so by paying for their meals.

“I’m only doing it because it makes me feel good," Ms Hine said.

Tealia Rose was a beneficiary of Ms Hine’s kindness.

“What she did was so small but so amazing, it made my day completely,” Ms Rose said.

Ms Hine said she intended to continue doing random acts of kindness in Townsville.
