TASHES MO- TIVATE ARMY BAND

- RACHEL RILEY

A CROCODILE that bit a tourist on the leg at Cape Tribulation will spend the rest of its days in a farm or zoo.

Department of Environment and Heritage Protection wildlife officers captured the 2m saltwater crocodile after it attacked a 24- year- old woman, believed to be from the UK, who had been walking beside a small creek on Cape Tribulation Beach on Monday night.

The woman sustained puncture wounds to her upper left thigh, and was transported to Mossman Hospital for treatment.

Footage of the crocodile, filmed by a friend, made international headlines.

An EHP spokeswoman said the crocodile was captured in a trap at the creek early yesterday morning.

It was then transported to a secure holding facility.

“The crocodile will ultimately be placed with a suitable crocodile farm or zoo,” she said. THERE was plenty of tash talk among the 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment band members this month and it was all for a good cause.

Seven members of the popular group spent the last 30 days participating in Movember with varying facial results.

“There is a guy who grew a very decent moustache that turned him into a pretty evil looking character and then another guy ended up with something that looked only a few days old,” 1RAR Band Sergeant Major Warrant Officer Class Two Sean O’Toole said.

WO2 O’Toole said the band raised $ 605 through donations.

“People decided to do this to raise awareness for the all issues Movember supports like prostate cancer and men’s health.

He said with the group’s public profile, they hoped to go above and beyond next year.

“Next year, we’ll try and make it that everyone in the unit does it,” he said.

“And we’ll use our profile to try and raise a bit more money.”
