Bullets primed to fire, says Boomers ace Kickert

- GREG DAVIS

BOOMERS and Bullets forward Daniel Kickert says a healthier Brisbane are poised to make their presence felt in the NBL, starting with tonight’s clash with Adelaide.

Kickert was in eye- catching form for Australia in the recent World Cup qualifying games while the Bullets are set to welcome back guard Adam Gib- son for the road trip to Adelaide after he was sidelined with a troublesome calf injury.

The combination of Kickert’s sharpshooting momentum and a healthier roster bodes well for Brisbane ( 3- 6).

Kickert had 15 points in the win over Chinese Taipei then topscored for the Boomers with 22 points in Australia’s victory over Japan on Monday.

He was ruthlessly efficient from the field and especially deadly from three- point range and Brisbane need him to keep that form rolling if they are to upset the 36ers.

“It’s always good to see the ball go through the hoop, especially when you are representing your country,’’ Kickert said.

“It was also good to get two games under my belt in that 10- day stretch when the NBL took a break, so I’ll be looking to keep that momentum going.

“We’ve almost got a full squad back together at the Bullets and we had an unbelievable amount of bodies at training this week.

“It’s that time of year when you need to have the bodies to throw out on court. We are a third of the way through the season and we are basically on the road for all of December, so it’s good to see guys coming back.’’

Kickert said it would not take much for the Bullets’ fortunes to turn and the Brisbane camp had been encouraged by how they had fought the good fight against top teams.

“We’ve been right there. We’ve been there just about every game and we pushed Perth and New Zealand to really close games,” he said. slowly
