Fun starts as school year ends

-

TOWNSVILLE’S school students are tossing the textbooks for the year, with school holidays officially kicking off for primary school and high school students today.

Year 7 students and friends Baylee Draper, Emma Tollan and Amanda Doyle, all 13, are thrilled to have successfully completed their first year of high school at William Ross State High.

“When I first came to the school it was scary but as I made my way through the year I made more and more friends and felt a lot more comfortable,” Emma said.

“I didn’t really know my way around at first because it’s a big school,” Amanda said.

“It was very exciting because you can make new friends and meet new people.

“The first year of high school was a bit scary but it all worked out, it was really fun,” Baylee said.

“When you first get to high school everyone separates and finds new groups, no one was really used to that, but then I met these girls and we all hung out.”

While all Townsville students are excited for a well- deserved holiday, Emma said she was especially excited about Christmas Day.

“I’m spending Christmas with my family and hopefully FaceTiming my dad, he’s in Iraq for seven months,” she said. “He left a couple of weeks ago so hopefully we can FaceTime him on Christmas.”
