MPs need to stand up

-

I REFER to the article page one ( TB 23.12.17) “Left for dead” – it’s reassuring the positive stance our State Government is taking on curbing break- and- enter and car theft crime throughout Queensland, especially Townsville and Cairns. It was also very encouraging the response the community received from our socalled three local representatives – and I use the term loosely, the silence was deafening.

With regards to the demand for a seven- point plan as suggested, why would they, the three stooges, attend any meeting? Their past performance over the last three years suggests it would be a complete waste of time and they have now been re- elected.

We here in the north of the state have a huge problem as a result of failed policies implemented by our State Government in Brisbane. While we have do- gooders and petticoats running the justice system we are going nowhere, although we did stop sexy slogans on vans, what’s next, advertising on Brisbane buses to be banned? One has to ask the question how long is it going to be before someone is killed on our roads because of the inaction of our duly elected government and so- called local representatives.

May I take this opportunity to remind them, the three local representatives, that they were elected to represent the people of Townsville – not those in Peel St, Brisbane. Some people of Townsville got what they voted for and in my humble opinion they must be completely disappointed with the effort so far. DAVID THOUMINE,

Cranbrook.
