Hot rock event aims to bring back nostalgic feel

- DANNI SHAFIK

KIRWAN Tavern will soon be heating up with some of the country’s biggest rock bands playing at the venue as part of a national tour.

The Hotter Than Hell tour will feature Eskimo Joe, Jebediah, Killing Heidi, The Superjesus and Townsville’s very own, The Koffin Rockers.

Organisers say the intention of Hotter Than Hell was to bring back the nostalgic feel of the best festival memories to thriving areas that rarely saw high- quality music acts.

Kirwan Tavern venue manager Phillip Kiehne said the tour was a great opportunity to see a range of quality bands in one night.

“Not very often something like this comes to Townsville, so people should definitely come along and join the fun,” he said.

“It’s going to be as hot as hell but as fun as hell.”

The festival- style rock event will hit up three Aussie states between January and March.

Mr Kiehne said with more than 2000 tickets already sold, they were aiming to hit the 3000 mark.

“We are planning to set up a large marquee, along with food stalls, bars and merchandise tents, ready to cater for everyone,” he said.

“At the end of the day it’s about bringing quality music to Townsville and providing an exceptional service in a safe environment.”

Hotter Than Hell will be at the Kirwan Tavern on January 13 from 2pm with tickets now available for the 18 + event online and at the door.
