Tributes to a top dad
THE man tragically killed in a freak accident on Thursday was an “amazing father” with a love for adventure.
Stephen Taylor, 25, was killed when a brick wall collapsed and crushed him against his car at Carthew St, Kirwan.
Family and friends yesterday shared their grief, shock and pain with the Bulletin.
Older brother Mat Taylor said Stephen was “always unapologetically honest, spoke his mind and had an adventurous spirit that I always found inspiring”.
He said the family had been rocked by the tragedy.
“Stephen was both the sole provider and caregiver for his young son ( James, 6). He gave so much love to so many people,” Mat Taylor said.
“He was a kind, caring uncle and father … supportive brother, fierce friend and dutiful son. I cannot express how deeply saddened I am.”
Friends and family yesterday took to social media with tributes, with many still coming to terms with the shock.
Sister Cynthia Hawkings said Stephen was an outdoors man who enjoyed camping and four- wheel- driving.
“( He was) the best brother who was always there for any of us who needed him,” she said.
“He had a long list of what he still wanted to see and do, but had already achieved more than most his age. He was one of those amazing people that actually checked off his bucket list.”
Close friend Amber McCracken said she would never understand how or why this tragedy happened.
“His love and sense of adventure will forever live on through his son and those who knew him and got to experience and see for themselves the amazing father and person he was,” she said.
The freak accident happened about 1pm.
Police believe Mr Taylor had been working on his car when the wall collapsed.
A passing motorists saw the wall collapse and attempted to administer first aid but Mr Taylor died at the scene.
Police investigators are not treating the incident as suspicious and are preparing a report for the coroner.
The family has not yet finalised funeral arrangements.
