CREDIT UNION IN LINK WITH CHARIT Y

-

FUNDRAISING FU for family charity Ronald McDonald House North Queensland has been tied to community grants being offered by Queensland Country Credit Union.

The credit union has called for applications for its “good for good” program, where recipients commit to fundraising for Ronald McDonald House in return for grants totalling $ 120,000.

“We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with Ronald McDonald House North Queensland and introduce them as our charity partner for 2018,” credit union CEO Aileen Cull said.

Ronald McDonald House North Queensland CEO Amy Cooper said childhood illness could have a devastating effect on families and the charity helped reduce the stress, anxiety and financial burden for families when accessing medical care.

“With the capacity to host over 100 people under our roof each night, the ongoing support of local businesses such as Queensland Country Credit Union is critical and goes a long way,” Ms Cooper said. “Over the course of their stay, which can average two to three months or longer, we assist families with travel, clothing, food and other essentials they may need during a medical emergency.

“We also help care for sick kids across the North Queensland region through our Learning Program, Family Retreat and in- hospital Family Room.”

Queensland Country’s grants program has injected more than $ 2 million into community projects since 2005 including $ 92,500 to communities affected by Cyclone Debbie last year.
