Four winners for Essery at local dogs

THE first greyhound meeting back for 2018 was a 10- race card, with the feature event being the Accell Therapy Country to City Series Final over 498m.

Prominent Townsville trainer Rhonda Essery began 2018 with a bang with four winners for the night.

Her great night started in race two, the MCP Racing Novice over 380m, with Rhonda’s Yogi before also winning in race three, Dan The Painter Man 5th Grade over 380m with Smokey Wishes.

In race four, the Scoops Fish & Chips 5th Grade over 380m with Rhonda’s Dougie and she wrapped it up in race six, the Big Hammer Hardware 3/ 4th Grade over 380m, with Go Gwan. Race eight was the Accell Therapy Country to City Series Final over 498m.

Next was Sliding Doors ( 4) and Natty’s On Fire ( 3), heading along the back straight Huckabee still had a nice but Innocent Man ( 1) kicked late to steal a win.

The four finalists from Townsville, Innocent Man, Huckabee, Sliding Doors and Faringdon will be in Brisbane on Thursday, January 25 to race in the Country to City Final at Albion Park over the 520m.

Nome trainer Glen Olsen started off the New Year with two winners while Joan Newnham, Robert Lound, Harold Hovi and Clarence Wilcox all managed one each.
